After the beginner class I taught last month, there was enough demand for another class. So I scheduled a Shelley class.
Jeanette (Bra Making Academy) had left her Shelley bra set at the store, and I could use it on the display to show just how pretty the Shelley pattern is.
Although this is a really adorable set, I wanted to put my own mark on things, so to speak, so sewed up the cutest little Shelley.
I went through my stash and found just enough lace to go with some platinum duoplex and adorable pink findings kit.
This was a quick sew, or at least it felt that way for me. I’m used to sewing a larger size.
Using the form’s measurements (which I got over the phone!) I made up a 2.75 BCD with a 26″ band. I have to say I didn’t do too badly on the size. I think I could go up one cup size to get an even better fit, but this is pretty close.
Here’s the full display at the store. She’s wearing a lovely new Shelley bra, with the most adorable little Veronica panties
Isn’t that the cutest?
Just one more photo. I love this lace I used for this demo Shelley.
It makes me think of Spring. I’m ready for Spring. How about you?
I’ll be honest with you. I haven’t even looked at my pants pattern this week. I will re-look at it though. I’m determined!
Happy creating!
I’m still having trouble with my hands, and all this comes at such a bad time. I’m taking the Pattern Fitting 101: Demystifying Fit from Head to Toe course from
They’re not fancy, but they will coordinate well with my platinum Freja bra.
Initially, I was feeling a bit disappointed the lace trim was so dark, but it actually helps to bring the colors together a bit more.
This was the last of my grey cotton Lycra fabric, and to get two pair of panties out of it, I had to add a seam to the back of one pair. Shhh. No one will know but us.
I’m feeling very motivated to sew up a whole fall/winter bra collection. Let’s hope I can sew that much.
Yes, I do think that darker lace trim really does help to bring these two together.
Most of my makes are a full hipster with lace trim, but I decided to make one of my Clovers with a little more lace this time.
I had a hard time finding Ivory cotton Lycra that wasn’t almost white. Clearly I did find some though.
That’s pretty close in color. The other ‘Ivory’ I bought was a lot more white.
These are darling! I added some narrow plush band elastic inside the waist because this is really stretchy stretch lace.
I love this set!
I heard
I’m not sure if it’s the Barbie effect, but I’m really loving the pink right now. Normally I’m more a fan of fuchsia, but I’m really enjoying this set.
Here’s the bra and panty together.
I’m happy to have another full set to enjoy.
I took this photo while enjoying Nikki’s class on Fitting As We Age. I’m loving the Bee so far this year. I have a few more sewing/adjusting patterns projects planned for during the Bee too.
These were such cute kits.
And I thought they were adorable. But when I looked for the pattern, I found the more recent version.
You can see the seam is sitting just forward. With the seam sitting forward just a bit like that, it makes the lace trim match up better for joining it.
You can see on this older make the lace trim joins at a bit of a point. With the seam forward, it’s just a little neater.
I have some solid pink cotton Lycra for a second pair of panties. I’m just not sure which pattern I want to make yet.
Some good news – my hand is healing and improving. So I’ll be back soon with more makes.
I used the Poppy pattern from House Morrighan. I made the size 6 but graded the cup to a B cup instead of the C/D cup in the pattern.
So cute! One of my favorite things about this set is the little hints of color coming through the bralette. The reason for this is the tulle I used to line it. It has stretch in one direction so worked for this. It’s this
Above there are hints of pink, blue, and yellow.
Along another part of the hem is yellow, pink and blue. I really love how this turned out with these bits of color peeking through.
That really is an adorable little set, and I’m pretty sure the smallest set I’ve made so far.
I have a lovely black and red lace on my cutting table so thought I’d make something that would coordinate with that.
This is clear to see, I used a fabric band for the waist instead of FOE. This is quite easy to see.
This is harder to see (although I overexposed it) I also used fabric bands instead of FOE at the leg opening. I wanted something just a little softer, and thought I’d experiment.
Isn’t that a lovely side view?
Another very pretty view of that lace.
So, here is my newest make – the Brenda Brief pattern.
Oh, well you know how I feel about these. I say the same thing over and over. I love them! I really love this
Isn’t that just lovely? What a great way to make a matching set by using the same lace at the leg opening. Or do a little scrap busting by using the color blocking option.
I really like this pattern. It comes in four styles. Two briefs (view A & B) which sit higher, and two lower styles (view C & D) which are close to a hipster. I plan to make the hipsters next!
To be honest, I’m still not sure. I think it falls somewhere in-between the two colors. And I like them both too, but I decided this was closer to coral.
I used a peachy colored elastic on the legs to match the copper of the cups and band, but I wanted the rest shades of coral.
Oh, I still like my KS2286s. They have a bit of a ’80s vibe to them, they’re still adorable.
Oh, just as adorable!
Here’s the full set of matchy matchy.
Just lovely.
The colors are so rich and vibrant.
This looks like an adorable hipster, but it sits much higher on.
I looked around, but I couldn’t find the color of lace I wanted, so I dyed this lace using Burnt Orange acid dye. It turned out perfectly!
You see, that’s a full coverage back. What the pattern shows is definitely not quite what you get. Still, these have been a favorite of mine for years now.
Oh, I think these are cute.
You can see these have full coverage too, but they sit a little lower over the leg.
That is some perfectly matching matchy matchy.
